Home Improvement

PROCEED provides home repair services that enhance energy efficiency and improve the health of those living in the home. Over the years, these services have saved countless families in Union County thousands of dollars in heating, cooling, and healthcare bills.

Repairs must be modest and often involve replacement or minor carpentry. Staff members conduct an in-home consultation and assessment of needs, and provide services on a most-needed, most-efficient basis. As there is often a waitlist, families and individuals are encouraged to request services as soon as possible and to understand that they may only receive one service at a time, depending on the scope of the project.

Energy Conservation

PROCEED’s Weatherization Assistance program has been delivering energy efficiency services since 1976. Professionally trained technicians perform on-site home energy audits using state of the art equipment. Their goal is to identify and eliminate outside drafts and to inspect heating systems for safety and efficiency. Steps taken to maximize home energy efficiency include but are not limited to: wall and attic insulation, sealing off air leaks, repairing or replacing existing heating systems, and sealing doors and windows.

To be eligible for PROCEED’s Weatherization Assistance program, those living in the household must be residents of Union County and meet specific income guidelines.

Senior Home Repair

The Senior Home Repair program provides minor home repairs for residents of Union County over the age of 60. Home repairs eligible for consideration should be $500 or less and should increase or restore the individual’s health and safety. Feasible home repairs include, but are not limited to, fixing a door, removing asbestos, and insulating windows.

Staff members conduct a home visit before beginning services to evaluate the scope of the project. Together with the individual requesting services, they fill out a survey of the work needed and the reasons why the repair is important to the health and safety of the household.
